Thinking of you
a light and tender moment of remembrance
I love when a piece of writing or the lyrics in a song stop me in my tracks, provoking an emotion or a conversation within me.
It’s happened to me this week.
I heard a background track on a scene of TV drama and was compelled to search for it.
I Think of Angels
When I think of angels, I think of you
And your flaming red hair
And the things that you do
I heard you'd left
No, it couldn't be true
When I think of angels, I think of you
Godspeed, you angel
Wherever you go
Although you have left, I want you to know
My heart's full of sorrow, I won't let it show
I'll see you again when it's my time to go
When I think of angels, I think of you
And your flaming red hair
And the things that you do
I heard you'd left
No, it couldn't be true
When I think of angels, I think of you
When I think of angels, I think of youBy Kristján Kristjánsson (also known as KK), in memory of his older sister, Inger, who died in a car crash in 1992. Listen to the song here.
It’s a simple, beautiful song, and it’s been in my head for days. The lyrics touched my heart. Losing someone you love. The disbelief they are gone. The courage to live without them. The hope that one day you’ll be reunited.
It reminded me how a piece of music or poetry can unlock memories and tucked away emotions.
This week, this song became a companion in my thoughts saying, “Feel it. Honour it. Carry it with grace.”
It felt like a light and tender moment of remembrance.
Has a song or piece of writing ever stopped you in your tracks like that? What was it what stirred in you?
